                        Manufacture Comparison

To further assist and protect our customers from unethical manufactures we have comprised a list of questions to ask our competitors.  PLEASE ask the following questions before you make any decisions:

The information below is solely intended to assist and protect our customers. We at Kevin's Custom Crafts welcome competition. However, we also feel that we must defend ourselves and our customers from unethical competitors. Since we started manufacturing our custom crafted lighthouses we have been constantly and maliciously attacked by one of our competitors with outright slander and blatant lies.  We at Kevin's Custom Crafts do not believe in negative advertising or so called bad mouthing , and we would never talk negatively or put down our competitors, but we will defend ourselves from unethical manufactures that our less than honorable.  If you have any questions about our lighthouses please feel free to call or email us. Or if someone makes negative statements about our lighthouses please let us know and we will answer you immediately with the truth and facts to back it up!!!   We want to earn your business with honesty, and trust.

Please Click Here to visit our recent customers comments to see what our customers have said about our lighthouses and service.

One of the biggest questions we have received over the years has been: Our your
lighthouses made from "Fiberglass" like that of your competitor?
Our answer is always "NO" and their lighthouses are not made from fiberglass either!!!

Now for the Proof to back our statement:  If you take a look at the picture to your right you will see the process for the application of Synthetic Stucco.  This process consist of 1) A solid foam core known as Polystyrene 2) A nylon or fiberglass mesh covers the foam 3) Then a coat of  Primus Adhesive  or masonry is used to adhere the nylon or fiberglass mesh to the polystyrene base.   4) Then a coat of Synthetic Stucco is applied.      Now, the interesting part is that our competitor
has the same application process displayed on their web site but still claims that their lighthouses are made from fiberglass.  Just because you use a fiberglass or nylon mesh does not make it a fiberglass lighthouse!!!    It has to make you think.  If their not going to tell you the truth on how their lighthouses are made, are they going to tell the truth about other important factors??

My supporting information was provided from our friends at "Dryvit"  which is a manufacture of Synthetic Stucco NOT Fiberglass.

UPDATE: Since we informed our customers about this situation our competitor has changed their wording to say hand crafted from fiberglass AND masonry.  Although they are still trying to claim their lighthouses are made from Fiberglass.

Again, this is only done to assist our customers, and to defend ourselves against negative accusations...

2) Ask Questions about misleading Warranties???  Don't Be fooled by flimsy warranties. Ask for a written copy and read the warranty thoroughly. Look for key words like "does not cover", "improper installation by the owner", and "we will replace or repair at "our discretion". Do these words sound like a good solid warranty to you??? Another question to ask is who pays for shipping to and from the manufacture if something happens to your lighthouse??? The answer is you the customer pays. This gets very costly, especially if you are shipping via motor freight.

UPDATE: Since we informed our customers about this situation our competitor has removed their flimsy warranty and are now only covers their plastic doors and windows.

We at Kevin’s Custom Crafts stand 100% behind our custom crafted lighthouses. We do not use gimmicks or
flimsy warranties to mislead our customers. We simply guarantee customer satisfaction and professional
personal service!!!! Again, we want to earn your business with honesty, and trust.

3) Ask any of our like competitors why they are at least $50.00 to $100.00 more expensive?

We simply want your business and we want to give you a great ornamental lighthouse at a great price.  Remember we will beat or match any like competitors written quote.....

4) Check to make sure they are using recent pictures to display their lighthouses?  Several vendors are not updating their web sites and when you receive the lighthouse it looks nothing like what is shown in the picture.  (i.e. Some manufactures show pictures with custom crafted windows and doors but when you receive it you get plastic windows and doors. Also some pictures show their lighthouses with a decorative light and then when you receive it you get a mason jar type light.)

We at Kevin's Custom Crafts update our web site regularly and when we say we use windows with glass and curtains we mean it. If we say we use six panel doors we mean it. Our philosophy at Kevin’s Custom Crafts is that we endeavor to make the best possible custom crafted lighthouse ornaments on the market today and make no compromise on quality in the process.

5) Check on their shipping charges and packing ???  Please note that UPS can not take any lighthouse larger than 5' in one piece.  So if a lighthouse is 5'6" then it will have to be delivered via motor freight, which becomes very costly.

Kevin's Custom Crafts uses only the best packing material and boxes.  Your lighthouse will be delivered in a double wall corrugated box and encased in foam for shipping safety.  Please note our 5' lighthouse can be shipped via UPS, which saves you the customer money.

6) Ask when your lighthouse will be shipped???  Some custom crafted lighthouse vendors take approximately 6-12 weeks to deliver, because they do not have up to date equipment or lack of labor.

We at Kevin's Custom Crafts are usually on a 1-4 week turn around time because we have the most technological equipment available today.  We are rapidly growing and are scheduled to have our new work shop and show room completed soon.

7) Ask if you can request different colors, and if they have custom colors to choose from?  Now ask how much it cost for each color change?  Many vendors charge at least $20.00 to $50.00 for a special order color change.

We at Kevin's Custom Crafts have 32 customs colors to choose from at NO additional charge.

8) Ask how long their lighthouse will last in harsh elements???

Answer from Kevin’s Custom Crafts: Our lighthouses our virtually maintenance free. The only thing you may have to do is clean it from time to time with your garden hose....

A) If purchasing a wooden lighthouse make sure you ask how the lighthouse will stand up to rain or if applicable salt water. Also make sure you ask what type of wood and paint they use.

B) If purchasing an aluminum lighthouse ask what will happen to the lighthouse during a hail or heavy rain storm.

9) Ask if their lighthouses are truly replicated after the actual lighthouse???

Answer from Kevin’s Custom Crafts: we take great pride in trying to make the most authentic looking replicas available.

A) Wooden lighthouses are a very nice alternative and do look very nice. I know because I also sell wooden lighthouses too, but if you want a highly detailed and truly circular lighthouses you can not get it in wood. Example Hexagon (6 sided), Octagon (8 sided), or Dodecagon (12 sided)

B) If your thinking about an Aluminum lighthouses ask what detailing they use and if they even have windows or doors.

10) Ask if their lighthouse comes assembled???

Answer from Kevin’s Custom Crafts: We ship our lighthouse 99% assembled.

Some vendors ship there lighthouses in several different pieces and you the customer must assemble your own lighthouse.

If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 570-523-0813 or email us we will be more than happy to assist you in any way we can.

If you looking for a high quality custom crafted lighthouse, then you have come to the right place. Our philosophy at Kevin’s Custom Crafts is that we endeavor to make the best possible lighthouse ornaments on the market today and make no compromise on quality in the process.
